The world of music has never seen an event like this! Abbey Road Studios – the legendary music studio known for producing The Beatles or Daft Punk – organised their first ever hackathon together with Abbey Road Red. Miquido was the Gold Partner of the event, arm in arm with Microsoft – the Strategic Partner.
The purpose of the action was to find new ways of using technology in the music industry and to face the challenges of musicians from all over the world. The hackathon started on Saturday, Nov 10th, at Abbey Road Studios headquarters. The day after, all the winners were announced and awarded by the board of jury and organizers.
The hackathon participants were discovering new paths in music production basing on innovative technological solutions. Over a dozen teams consisting of programmers, musicians, AI specialists, and producers, were searching for the answer to one question “How will we produce music in 2030? ”. The attendees were supported by mentors from the industry of technology and music.
The participants could use API, Microsoft tools enabled for the occasion of the event, and Universal Music Group catalog with 14K music tracks by Frank Sinatra, Michael Jackson, Rihanna or Hans Zimmer.
Experts in the music industry
The jury of the hackathon consisted of top industry experts, judging the solutions based on objects detection, the recognition of face, voice or even emotions. The board included:

Miquido handed a financial reward to “HRMNI” project for the most innovative solution driven by User-Friendly Thinking. The team created a space where virtual instruments communicate together, enabling users to jam in a group.
